Growing & Learning

Two year olds begin expressing interest in name recognition, and understanding the connection of their names to their self identity. Our teachers continue to foster independence and help your child learn the values of sharing, cooperation, and empathy as they interact with their peers in group activities. We continue working on building friendships and regulating our emotions.

Through hands-on experiences and play-based learning, children flourish as they solve simple puzzles, sort objects, and engage in early numeracy and literacy activities. Children grow in language development through conversations, reading stories, name and letter recognition, and beginning expressing their thoughts and feelings.

Dramatic play is biggest center for two year olds because this is the age when they want to mimic real life and practice what they are seeing in their world and at home. They work on their fine motor skills through art projects, blocks, puzzles, sensory, and manipulative toys as they refine their hand-eye coordination and dexterity.

Learning Self-Awareness

At two, children begin to develop self-awareness, gaining confidence in their abilities. Potty training begins at this age, as we learn about taking care of our bodies, washing our hands, and eating nutritious snacks.
